Description: At nine years old, Gerandy is a spirited, imaginative girl who loves the outdoors. Her favourite place to be is sitting beneath her cherry tree Norman, whose branches are a comforting shelter to the problems of the real world. However, when she goes to see him one day after school, she finds that something is terribly, terribly wrong. Norman is gone, cut down and only a stump in his place. As Gerandy stares at the remains of her beloved friend, she is faced with a decision: say farewell to Norman and dwell on her loss, or look to the future and embrace what Norman has left her. In that moment Gerandy grows, realizing that each life that leaves us also leaves us with memories and a fresh beginning. Click here to read this story online.
